I love YouTube. I typically will watch a few videos/vlogs before I go to bed each night. A few weeks back I discovered this gem by Rory Duffy, an award-winning handcraft tailor. “The Making of a Coat” is a long and slow series, you really get to see the detail and time that goes into a hand crafted jacket. Clear your schedule or watch a bit here and there, but either way, enjoy.
It’s no surprise that I love denim. I am fortunate to work in a fairly relaxed work environment and am able to wear a polo and denim on most days. I try to stay away from blue denim until Fridays as it is frowned upon by management. So to combat that, I have added a few pairs to the closet, that while they are still denim, don’t look like denim to the untrained eye.
If you take a look at my collection below, you’ll see I have a few pairs of various shades of similar colors. I like to keep my “get-up” pretty traditional, and only reach for the pink denim occasionally. I am a big fan of the traditional Levi’s 501s, you can’t beat the quality and the price. I have few other pairs from Ralph Lauren, J.Crew, and Rodd and Gunn.
While I may not have a huge amount, I use the rotation very wisely and each pair gets the appropriate amount of wear. I am looking at a few more pairs to add in the future (Pair #1 & Pair #2), but for now I am happy with my collection.

I have been following the blog, Unabashedly Prep, for some time and am happy to see F.E. Castleberry evolving. F.E. (Fred), a fellow native Texan, truly has a great sense of his own style and brand. Reading his work, browsing his images, and hearing his strategies has given me a vision in my own work on the site. His style, along with Sid Mashburn, and Andy Spade have inspired my closet in the recent months and have motivated me in these transition years.
With that said, I was excited to hear of Fred launching his own brand. F.E. CASTLEBERRY, the brand, fits right in with the bespoke (custom) trend that is so popular now. With the high price tag, comes the quality fabrics and construction that we expect from a quality company. From his background working at Ralph Lauren Rugby and his work with brands like Filson, Norman Hilton, and many other classic companies, Fred learned what it takes to pull off the design of a brand. I can’t wait to see what he will do with the company. I hope to one day real soon own a suit from Fred. Wink, wink.
Fred and all of his quirkiness.

If you are like me, you struggle with the mushroom cloud disaster that is your shirt. You spend good money on your clothes to look professional, but instead you end up looking like Ted, the guy in the next cubicle that still rocks his tie collection from 1980. It’s frustrating when I constantly have to tuck in my shirt awkwardly just to keep it looking half way decent. There’s no good way to do it, poke one hand down your pants and hope no one notices or run to the bathroom and hide in shame as you re-tuck. Boy, do have I the perfect solution for you? The kicker…its only $30.
I came across Magnetuck a few months back, and was ecstatic when they offered to send a pair my way to test out. After putting it to the test, my verdict is: It’s awesome! It works perfectly form my needs and helps me out around the office. Check out the before and after below!
Head on over to the Magnetuck site and pick you up a pair, your wardrobe and your coworkers will thank you.
Lets hear it. What are your thoughts on Magnetuck?
Great news from Prospect Brands, the company who recently purchased and relaunched Duck Head, broke yesterday. Prospect Brands will be partnering with the luxury apparel company, Crittenden & Company! This is very exciting news, and if you haven’t heard of Crittenden, take a look at their website or check out the pictures below. I can’t wait to see what unfolds for the company over the next few weeks and where they take this great line of apparel. Stay tuned to keep updated. You won’t want to miss this!
From Prospect Brands:
Yesterday, December 2, 2014, Prospect Brands, LLC announced that it has reached an agreement to acquire a majority interest in Crittenden & Company, LLC expanding the company’s apparel portfolio which also includes the southern lifestyle icon, Duck Head, and the technology and outerwear company, Gerbing. Luxury apparel veteran, Critt Rawlings who has more than 50 years of experience in the industry, founded Crittenden in 2003. Crittenden produces fine men’s jackets, dress shirts, neckwear, sweaters and trousers. Crittenden is sold at leading men’s specialty stores across the United States, in addition to the company’s flagship store located in Midway, KY. Setting out to be authentic to its roots, and live up to Mr. Rawlings’ high level of taste and perfection, Crittenden alone sets the standard for quality and taste in men’s clothing.
“Crittenden is a great addition to our existing portfolio. It is rare in a career to be able to work and partner with such an icon in the apparel industry. I’m excited and honored to work with and learn from my good friend Critt Rawlings. Together I am confident that we can continue to deliver on the promise of creating authentic, high-quality goods.” Said Tom Nolan, President and CEO of Prospect Brands.
“We are thrilled to have found the right partners in Prospect Brands. We greatly respect their vibrant, young team and know they will be a great asset in developing a larger and more successful Crittenden brand for many years to come.” Said Mr. Rawlings.
In 2003, after spending a career with some of the finest American producers of tailored clothing, including Ralph Lauren, Oxxford Clothes, and Norman Hilton, Crittenden Rawlings recognized that there was a void in the marketplace for a quality, high-end product at a reasonable price. Crittenden is about easy going sophistication that carries with it all the details of the most expensive and well-made garments. Mr. Rawlings works with the finest mills in the world, combining impeccable quality and design with a fair price. Like the man, Crittenden is about authenticity, and making garments the right way. Crittenden can be found in the finest specialty stores in America as well as its flagship store, located in Midway, KY.

1. Duck Head’s “George” Corduroy Pants – I unfortunately do not have any cords in my closet. I saw this pair from Duck Head and knew it would be a good fit for me immediately. Since the resurgence of Duck Head, they have come out with a great line of classic products. These cords just prove that.
2. Buffalo Jackson Laramie Bison Bit Drivers – I have had these on my wish list for a while now. These drivers are awesome and come from a great company. Why I haven’t snatched them yet? I have no clue.
3. Res Ipsa Camouflage Garment Bag – To me, this is a perfect christmas gift. It’s one that many people wouldn’t think to get themselves, but would really love to have. Camouflage and leather, to me, just scream manly and Res Ipsa did a great job of putting the two together to make this garment bag.
4. Richard Bishop Deer Drinkware – I think this set speaks for itself. What man wouldn’t want this to drink some fine bourbon out of?
5. Southern Marsh FieldTec Dune Pullover – I love these pullovers. So much so that I wouldn’t mind having all colors. They are perfect for fall and early spring to add some warmth and protection from the elements.
6. Smathers and Branson American Flag Needlepoint Belt – You can never have to much America in your life. This belt is perfect for a few holidays, but can be worn on any day with any outfit and still look great. It’s a must have for me.
7. La Matera Mendoza Belt – Being from Texas, I love the look of Native American and Hispanic patterns and colors. I would love to add a few belts from the La Matera line, this being the first.
8. Daniel Wellington Watch – I have yet to add another watch to my collection since posting about it a few months ago. With that said, I have loved the clean look of the DW line since I first saw it. They would go great with anything in my closet and are a no brainer for a holiday gift.
I stumbled upon the Over Under Minimalist Wallet a few weeks back and when they said that they would ship it to me, I couldn’t have been more excited. I guess you can say I am included in the minimalist trend that is going around. I don’t like to carry a bulky wallet that makes you sit lopsided, and I feel no need to carry a gift card to Olive Garden that has $3.26 on it that has been in there for about 9 months. I just need the essentials, so why stick with a bulky wallet? Big enough to hold about 6 cards and 8 bills, this minimalist wallet is perfect for what I need. To top it off, Over Under has agreed to give away one of these wallets to a lucky reader!
Comment below telling me what you favorite Over Under product is.

So if you didn’t know already, I have been working on expanding my shoe collection for the past few months. Tired of boat shoes and New Balance’s everyday, I opted to find drivers, penny loafers, bit loafers, and boots; I needed a few of them all. Recently while searching the interwebs, I came across a company I had heard mentioned before but never looked at their inventory, GH Bass & Company. At first glance, they look like your typical shoe/fashion line clothing store until I saw that they were the original maker of the penny loafer. After that, I was hooked. Searching through their Weejun (penny loafer) collection, I came upon a pair of canvas Weejuns. For the price ($30 on sale), they couldn’t be beat. I had to order them immediately.
Upon receiving them, I realized just how comfortable they were, the canvas/leather-lined two-tone upper and a perfect leather sole were a match made in heaven. These shoes cannot be beat for the price! I love them!
Unfortunately, they are out of stock on the color I chose. However, they are having a sale of 25% off your entire order (their sale items are already marked up to 70% off). I suggest you head over and find a pair of shoes, or even something from their apparel collection, that fits your wardrobe.
I am always looking for new and interesting pants for my wardrobe. I have plenty pairs of khakis, dress pants, and jeans but love to throw in a pair that isn’t the norm every once in a while. with the recent trend of GTHO pants, colors are becoming easier to find for men. However, I love varying fabrics and textures too. These pants are a perfect addition to my closet.
Released last fall from Southern Marsh, their Ranch Canvas Pants quickly became a must have for me! I love the dark brown pair. They look great for the fall and work harder than your normal chinos. Made of medium weight canvas fabric that will soften with each wash, these will surely be your favorite pair of pants. The Southern Marsh team worked hard on the fit on the pants and I would say that they nailed it!
These Ranch Canvas pants have subtle and great details, such as: striped oxford waistband, double stitched seams and belt loops, and contrast back pockets and loops. Built to last, these pants are a must have for the hard working, yet good looking man. I love the canvas texture and the detail on the back pockets. Very nice touch!
Go to the website and check out the variety of colors they offer and make sure to get your hands on this pair of great pants!
