I guess you could say I am a little out of the norm, I am always looking for an excuse to wear a blazer (or sport coat). And when Southern Proper revealed their new line of spring/summer items, the first thing I laid my eyes on was the Linen/Wool blazer, and I haven’t been able to get it off of my mind since.
This blazer is an all-around winner. With the two front buttons, functional sleeve buttons, cigar pocket, and many more great features, this is a jacket that I must have. And at that price-point, its hard to compete with. Great for just about any spring or summer occasion, I see no reason why I shouldn’t have it.
…I am always looking for an excuse to wear a blazer.
The jacket has great texture that adds to the look of the jacket while not overpowering the look. This is definitely a look I am wanting to add to my closet and can’t wait until I can get. Stick around to see an update and review once it gets in. Until then, don’t forget to check out the rest of the site and social media, and most importantly may God bless and keep you!
And the winner is…. Stewart Venable! Congratulations to Stewart and thanks to all of those who entered.
I have been very fond of Buffalo Jackson for years. From first discovering the brand due to chance, to reading Xan’s book, to purchasing many of their products, Buffalo Jackson has become a favorite of mine when looking for good products. Xan was kind enough to do an interview with me a couple of months back and has been very supportive of the blog since. In fact, Xan and his team have decided to give away a Riverdale Fishing Shirt and a Buffalo Jackson T-Shirt away to one of you lucky readers.
The Green Check Fishing Shirt – with more pockets than you know what to do with, and the fit of a modern dress shirt, this shirt is sure to be a hit on the water and in Mother Nature. Whether you are snagging trout or pitching a tent in your backyard, this shirt is for you. I love the look of the Green Check and you can bet I will don this puppy shortly.
The Robert E. Lee – American Heritage Shirt – The hand drawn cross-hatched design with simple additions pays homage well to a great General. The one and only Robert E. Lee was not only a highly revered soldier, but also a well respected gentleman. This new design from Buffalo Jackson will be in my collection shortly, you can bet on that.
If you haven’t already, go give these guys a follow on social media (it’ll help in the giveaway) and check out the site for some great products. Details to enter the giveaway are below.
I have always been intrigued by the look of the patterns from South America and Native Americans. How these patterns are made by hand is such an interesting art. Putting this interest of mine into clothing form is a company called La Matera. Right now, they make belts, wallets, watch straps, and ties with bold Argentinian designs. The woven designs create a look of elegance with a touch of grit. I have had the La Matera items on my wishlist for a few months now. I finally found the money to buy one and jumped at the opportunity.
This belt, called the Mendoza, is a perfect touch of boldness for an outfit. I am a firm believer that style should mirror the wearer, and I love to be simple with a little bit of boldness thrown in. This belt looks great with most of my wardrobe. The leather is high quality and will last a long time, the hardware is of equal quality, and the woven pattern is just fantastic. This belt will see some regular time in the rotation.
I want to know…what’s your opinion on the belt?
I recently received a package from the ladies at Southern Proper and in the package was the Field Coat. I have been putting it to the test in many different atmospheres. From the woods and the fields to the suburbs and downtown. So far, this jacket is fantastic. With a built-in koozie and a pocket to hold your shotgun shells, this is perfect from anything from a hunt to a tailgate. Made of 100% cotton canvas and sporting a corduroy collar, this jacket is a tough but classic garment. This will be in the rotation until it can’t be worn anymore. Also, how cool is that bird camo lining? I suggest you taking a look and purchasing one of yourself. Thanks to Southern Proper and William Lamb for the awesome collaboration! I can’t wait to see what else y’all create.
I’m sure all of you are very aware of the Duck Head resurrection. The company, however, just opened their flagship store in Greensboro, North Carolina. The building, The Mill, is a marvelous place and a perfect fit for the Duck Head brand. Featuring brick walls, old wood everywhere, animal mounts, and a vintage motorcycle, the store is a perfect place for me. I could spend all day in a place like that. They recently had a grand opening party, and welcomed their first in-store customers. The lovely people at Duck Head were kind enough to share a few of the pictures they took at the celebration.
I love mix of metal, brick, wood, and Duck Head items. I think they nailed it! I can’t wait to stop by the store in the future and show some love to brand.
The timeline of the company over the past 150 years.
Cool antique touches add to the comfy lounge area.
Vintage Bean Boots paired with antique American flag tin camp mugs add a nice touch to the store.
A cool and interesting way to showcase the vintage overalls.

A great view of the store.

If you are in the NC area, go check out the store and pick up a few of the great items they offer! If not, do not worry they didn’t forget about you, they are having some great holiday sales online for everyone. Thanks to the Duck Head team for sharing the photos! You can tell I love the store, but I want to know, what is your favorite part of the store?
Great news from Prospect Brands, the company who recently purchased and relaunched Duck Head, broke yesterday. Prospect Brands will be partnering with the luxury apparel company, Crittenden & Company! This is very exciting news, and if you haven’t heard of Crittenden, take a look at their website or check out the pictures below. I can’t wait to see what unfolds for the company over the next few weeks and where they take this great line of apparel. Stay tuned to keep updated. You won’t want to miss this!
From Prospect Brands:
Yesterday, December 2, 2014, Prospect Brands, LLC announced that it has reached an agreement to acquire a majority interest in Crittenden & Company, LLC expanding the company’s apparel portfolio which also includes the southern lifestyle icon, Duck Head, and the technology and outerwear company, Gerbing. Luxury apparel veteran, Critt Rawlings who has more than 50 years of experience in the industry, founded Crittenden in 2003. Crittenden produces fine men’s jackets, dress shirts, neckwear, sweaters and trousers. Crittenden is sold at leading men’s specialty stores across the United States, in addition to the company’s flagship store located in Midway, KY. Setting out to be authentic to its roots, and live up to Mr. Rawlings’ high level of taste and perfection, Crittenden alone sets the standard for quality and taste in men’s clothing.
“Crittenden is a great addition to our existing portfolio. It is rare in a career to be able to work and partner with such an icon in the apparel industry. I’m excited and honored to work with and learn from my good friend Critt Rawlings. Together I am confident that we can continue to deliver on the promise of creating authentic, high-quality goods.” Said Tom Nolan, President and CEO of Prospect Brands.
“We are thrilled to have found the right partners in Prospect Brands. We greatly respect their vibrant, young team and know they will be a great asset in developing a larger and more successful Crittenden brand for many years to come.” Said Mr. Rawlings.
In 2003, after spending a career with some of the finest American producers of tailored clothing, including Ralph Lauren, Oxxford Clothes, and Norman Hilton, Crittenden Rawlings recognized that there was a void in the marketplace for a quality, high-end product at a reasonable price. Crittenden is about easy going sophistication that carries with it all the details of the most expensive and well-made garments. Mr. Rawlings works with the finest mills in the world, combining impeccable quality and design with a fair price. Like the man, Crittenden is about authenticity, and making garments the right way. Crittenden can be found in the finest specialty stores in America as well as its flagship store, located in Midway, KY.

I haven’t known about Martin Dingman for very long, but have been very fond of it ever since. In love with countrywear look and attitude, their products fit perfectly. My first taste of the Martin Dingman product line was a slim front pocket wallet that my girlfriend got me as a birthday present. I love it and can’t look at the fat tri-fold wallets the same anymore. I recently purchased an Alligator skin/saddle leather belt that has instantly become the best belt I have ever owned (more on that in a later post). Another one of my proud purchases recently was finding a pair of Martin Dingman Pierson Loafers in tan perforated leather.
Now I admit they look interesting, but that is what I love. They go great with a button down and jeans, or they can pair well with a pair of dress pants and a whimsical tie. The fit is perfect. True to size, the shoes are made of great leather and have a very comfortable insole. Also, another great feature that often is underrated is the sole (see below). They inserted rubber, so after wear and tear of the sole, it still retains grip. It wouldn’t make it a Martin Dingman product if it wasn’t hand sewn, and boy do they know how to do it right. It took no time to break these puppies in, and I immediately added them to the lineup. I am proud to wear them and feel like I am wearing a pair of tennis shoes (sans socks, of course). I can definitely say that this will not be the last purchase from Martin Dingman that I make. Not sold on the site anymore, this pair can rarely be found on eBay. However, the Martin Dingman website has the Pierson loafers in three colors and also has a wide variety of leather goods and classy countrywear products. Now I’ll let you take a look at the shoes…
